Goal 3 Discussion Questions for Regional Gatherings

Goal 3: Recreate the Diocese as a Network. To redevelop the entire diocese by the end of 2009 to function primarily as a network of congregations and ministries. These networks will exercise local initiative and responsibility for shared ministry in their contexts.

One of the fundamental tasks of the goal 3 committee is the identification and engaging of congregant networks of mission and/or ministry activities throughout the Diocese; we have identified numerous networks, some that are actively connected and some not, in our work to date. In addition, our task is to identify centers/hubs that are network members that support the interconnectedness of the network. We have found that hubs are in some cases clearly identified or known by network members, and in some cases they are not. It is our assumption from the work of the BCMS, and our work to date, that our reformed Diocese and its management will be built upon these congregational networks and hubs.

Please come prepared to the regional meeting prepared to share your thoughts on the following four questions.

  1. What challenges would your congregation or faith community experience in becoming an active participant of a network?

    1. What tools would you need to become highly interactive with the networks that you are connected or related to?

    2. What tools personally or as a congregation would you contribute?

  2. We believe that within the reformed Diocese of Minnesota congregations will self identify as hubs of missional or ministerial activity and with clear intention invite relative congregations to share in resources and talents and in turn relative congregations would welcome the invitation and participate fully.

    1. What challenges would your congregation or faith community experience in either becoming a hub or participating fully with a hub within your network(s)?
  3. What leadership wellness and development (lay and clergy) do you need to support the building of a diocese based on networks and hubs?

    1. As a leader in your congregation in what ways would you participate?

    2. What support personally or as a congregation would you contribute to building the diocese based on networks and hubs?

  4. As you envision a reformed diocese of interrelated networks and hubs, what support would you anticipate from the episcopacy (Episcopal Center)?

    1. What support would you anticipate from your networks or hubs?

    2. What support personally or as a congregation would you contribute to this reformed diocese?
